VL-BNWAS - Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System
An Economic, Versatile, Easy to Operate BNWAS
VL-BNWAS is an economic solution for shipowners to comply with IMO BNWAS regulations. Suitable for all types and sizes of commercial vessels, the system is easy to install and operate. It is fully IMO MSC.128(75) compliant and Germanischer Lloyd approved. BNWAS is an IMO mandatory system and is phased in for all SOLAS vessels, e.g. all passenger vessel irrespective of size and all cargo vessels of 150GT and above, as of July 1st, 2011.
What does the VL-BNAW consist of?
The VL-BNWAS consists of an integrated Main CPU Unit with Officer Selector Switch. Additional Remote Reset Units and Remote Buzzer units can be fitted on the bridge and bridge wings. Second stage alarm units are installed in the officer's cabins and third stage Alarm Units in public spaces such as corridors and mess-rooms.
How does the VL-BNWAS work?
The BNWAS monitors the presence, awareness and activity of the Officer of the Watch (OOW) on the bridge and detects his absence and/or inability on the bridge that could lead to shipping accidents due to unavailability or incapacity of the OOW in performing his duties. Detection takes place via the central and remote reset units, activity at bridge work stations if they are connected via NMEA interfacing and optional via Motion Sensors, if approved by class. The system features a series of indications and alarms to alert first the OOW and, if no response is detected, the ships Master or another qualified OOW.
