The Horizon Multi-VoIP-24 unit offers Ultra-Low Bandwidth IP-Telephone Service using SmartPacket™ Technology developed in close cooperation with Inmarsat and Thrane & Thrane. The unit uses data compression technology, to reduce VoIP-VoIP communication charges by 10-40% (depending on call quality selected) compared to standard Inmarsat voice services. The unit can connect up to 24 concurrent standard analogue telephone units, which means that the vessel has up to 24 direct dialing extensions (depending on subscription selected). Industry leading Codec reduces bandwidth to as low as 2.15 Kbps compared to other VoIP services which use 24Kbps or more.
