- Total galvanic isolation is assured using an ISO-Drive output and the use of the trusted Actisense OPTO isolated input circuitry.
- The ISO-Drive output offers total galvanic isolation from the input and can "float" safely up to 1500 VDC from ground. Its sophisticated circuitry is 100% compatible with the NMEA 0183 RS422, industrial RS485 and single-ended PC RS232 "COM" ports.
- The USG-1 provides comprehensive isolation of the expensive PC hardware when connecting to an NMEA 0183 (RS422) bus that may have picked up potentially hazardous voltages around the electrically noisy environment of a vessel or factory, and makes installation simple due to the isolation of the PC ground from the NMEA 0183 data network ground, often the biggest cause of data errors and one of the biggest safety hazards in any electronic installation.
- No external power supply is required as the cable takes all necessary power from the USB port. Simple installation using plug & play USB drivers supplied on CD allows the PC to start sending and receiving data to the NMEA 0183 data network within minutes of installation.
- An Opto-isolated NMEA 0183 data input. A full galvanic Opto-isolated differential input that fully complies with the NMEA 0183 standard specification. This allows the input to work correctly with long cable runs, and/or in a noisy environment. This also allows the USG-1 to offer up to 2500v of common mode voltage difference (between its input and outputs).
- An ISO-Drive flexible output. The ISO-Drive output is fully compatible with the RS422 (NMEA 0183), RS485 and RS232 connections on the NMEA listening device(s) the USG-1 supplies data to, and offers total galvanic isolation of up to 1500v between the output and ground. The full-differential output ensures better quality communications and lower noise emissions on unshielded twisted pair cabling.
- USB drivers create Virtual Comm Port. PC connection to the NMEA 0183 system appears as a standard PC serial port - allowing simple and easy access the NMEA data.
- Extended warranty. Due to the significant protection improvements offered by the ISO-Drive outputs, all Actisense ISO-Drive products come with a extended length warranty of 3-years as standard.
- Ground loop solution. The ISO-Drive outputs completely remove any problematic ground loops between the NMEA device connected to the input (talker), and the NMEA device(s) connected to the ISO-Drive output (listener).
- High quality screw terminals. Supplied with fitted quick connect cables, but also allows for the user to select and attach alternative cables simply and quickly with the 'moving cage' type terminals.
- Powered from USB port for simplicity. Takes the minimum amount of USB power to help safe-guard the PC (and it's battery).
- IP54 case and grommet design. A very robust polycarbonate case with a good splash & dust proof certification that does not look out of place in view. The small case size is also ideal for space restrictive applications.
