Lost Diver Locator System, also called Maritime Survivor Locating Device (MSLD). Consisting of 1 × SARfinder 1003 Alarm & Locator Base Unit, 2 × AU9-D 40m Alert Unit/PLB (LIVE 121.5 MHz, 500mW) fitted to SMB. When a diver carrying a AU9 Personal Alert Unit (also called Personal Locator Beacon - PLB) drifts from its planned dive plan or gets into difficulty during the dive, the diver deploys his line-connected Surface Market Buoy with AU-9 fitted, the Base Unit picks up its signal and automatically activates a MOB alarm whilst simultaneously plotting the position of the vessel using the on-board NMEA connected GPS unit (GPS not included). The Base Unit will show direction and range to the missing person on a compass style LED display, tracking the PLB SOS signals. This enables crew to easily steer back to the MOB location and track, find and recover the diver(s). 40m dive depth version.
