General Purpose Man Overboard System, also called Maritime Survivor Locating Device (MSLD). Consisting of 1 × SARfinder MK3-1003 Alarm & Locator Base Unit pre-wired into a CREWFIX NMEA box (for automatic GPS plot of vessel position), 1 × AU9 Alert Unit/PLB (LIVE 121.5 MHz) and 1 × AU9 PLB (TEST 121.65MHz). When a person wearing a AU9 Personal Alert Unit (also called Personal Locator Beacon - PLB) falls overboard, the Base Unit picks up its signal and automatically activates a MOB alarm whilst simultaneously plotting the position of the vessel using the on-board NMEA connected GPS unit (GPS not included). The Base Unit will show direction and range to the missing person on a compass style LED display, tracking the PLB SOS signals. This enables crew to easily steer back to the MOB location and track, find and recover the missing person(s).
