OCTOPUS-Office - Introduction
OCTOPUS-Office is the latest development in ship motion analysis software, a modular, state-of-the-art and user-friendly software toolbox for sea-keeping analysis of ships and offshore floating structures.
It can be used as a stand-alone package, or together with OCTOPUS-Onboard.
OCTOPUS-Onboard, made by Amarcon, is designed to assist navigators with safe sea-keeping of vessels of any type, any size and in all sea and weather conditions.  OCTOPUS-Office - What is it?
OCTOPUS-Office, part of the OCTOPUS suite of solutions, calculates design accelerations and/or a workability of a vessel with just a few mouse clicks. The graphical user interface gives an immediate and detailed overview of the results. OCTOPUS-Office can also be used to define the vessel's operational criteria for OCTOPUS-Onboard.
OCTOPUS-Office - What does it do?OCTOPUS-Office consists of three modules, Basic, Statistics and Monte Carlo Simulation.
OCTOPUS-Office - BasicThis main module calculates the transfer functions of ship responses in waves, such as absolute and relative motions, velocities, accelerations, hull girder loads and linear combinations of responses.
It includes functionality to create 2D and 3D hull models, 2D and 3D hydrodynamic databases, Loading Conditions and Response Amplitude Operators (RAO's) on a 2D/3D hydrodynamic database and loading condition. Analyses can be carried out with or without forward speed, in deep or shallow waters, using 2D- or 3D-hydrodynamics. Sea-state dependent nonlinear effects can be accounted for. The program features extensive possibilities for graphical and textual reporting and presentation, including export functions to MS Word and Excel.
 OCTOPUS-Office - StatisticsThis module is used to calculate short- and long-term response statistics in arbitrary wave environments, including environment modelling tools, linearised response statistics, envelope curves and workability in scatter diagrams.
OCTOPUS-Office - Monte Carlo SimulationMonte Carlo voyage simulations can be carried out using the OCTOPUS-Monte Carlo simulation module in combination with Argoss historical W3C-database. Using spectral data instead of derived wave parameters such as significant wave height, mean directions or zero-up crossing period, more accurate results are ensured, especially in multi-directional seas. Moreover, persistency effects are automatically included.
