AU9-D 80m Diver Alert Unit/Personal Locator Beacon (TEST 121.75 MHz 500mW) for testing/training purposes. When a diver carrying a AU9 Personal Alert Unit (also called Personal Locator Beacon - PLB) fitted to a Surface Market Buoy (SMB) drift from its dive plan or gets into difficulty, he deploys his AU9-D to signal a distress. A Base Unit can pick up its signal and automatically activate a Dive/MOB alarm whilst simultaneously plotting the position of the vessel using an on-board NMEA connected GPS unit. The Base Unit will show direction and range to the diver which enables crew to easily steer back to the MOB location and track, find and recover the diver(s).
